"Sensum" raccoglie le sfide dei primi due romanzi della S.G. Cosa vuole dire ?
“Sensum” è composto facendo tesoro dei tratti caratteristici dei primi due romanzi. “I segugi di Newton” per la componente noir e “Primus” per quella fantastica.
Si è ispirato a qualche personaggio "noto" per "Primus" oppure è il risultato di un'immaginazione completamente indipendente?
No. Il romanzo è nato come un resoconto fantastico di alcune mie idee relative alla società in cui viviamo. Difficile enumerare le possibili variabili di questo libro in quanto sono molto numerose.
"Primus" è il primo romanzo di una vera e propria saga. Dopo "Sensum", qualsiasi sia il titolo che sceglierà, scriverà altri libri ispirati a questo romanzo?
Dovrebbe essercene un terzo e precisamente quello che potrebbe rivelarsi un crossover tra Heroic Fantasy e Fantascienza.

E siste un collegamento tra "I segugi di Newton" e "Ultima Thule"? Questo perché dice che il personaggio femminile del primo dovrebbe piacere a chi ha già letto "Ultima Thule". Da quale punto di vista?
Questo libro, essendo il primo della cosiddetta Seconda Generazione, raccoglie in parte l’eredità strutturale del romanzo breve “Ultima Thule”. Dico in parte perché “I Segugi di Newton” vanta una strutturazione più sofisticata e una storia completamente diversa. La protagonista femminile è uno dei punti migliori del libro, ma se esiste un collegamento è tra la storia and the short story "The world of dolls." The story of "The Hounds of Newton" is set in an era described by the following story.

Cosa prova quando l'ispirazione guida la sua mano? Che cosa vuol dire per uno scrittore ispirarsi?
Non esiste una risposta univoca a questa domanda. L’ispirazione è qualcosa che non si chiede e che non è programmabile. Può essere un dettaglio insignificante o un’idea che gira inutilmente nella testa per mesi. Peraltro diffido di chi dice che bisogna viaggiare tanto per avere l’ispirazione perché in questo caso persone come Asimov o lo stesso Tolkien sarebbero dovuti essere alieni o maghi!
Lei piace moltissimo alla mia sorellina che ha letto "Il canto della Solitudine" e si è messa a piangere come una fontana. Perciò le posto una sua domanda: i suoi nuovi libri saranno così belli?

Se i miei nuovi libri dovessero essere selezionati penserò a qualche piccola presentazione e non è escluso che una di queste sia proprio a Castrolibero.
Sono andata a "ficcare il naso" nelle vite di tanti grandissimi scrittori e poeti in genere. Molti di questi concordavano con l'idea che gli scrittori veri sono uomini soli. Spesso più uomini che donne, non so perché.. Che sono eccentrici e necessitano della solitudine come l'acqua. Posso capire quando scrivono ma non posso capire invece negli altri casi. Per lei come stanno le cose?
Faccio parte di quella categoria di scrittori solitari per natura e sociali per necessità. Scrivere è ovviamente difficile in ambienti rumorosi o comunque tali da non consentire la giusta concentrazione. D’altra parte nomi molto più importanti di me hanno espresso la fondamentale caratteristica della solitudine per poter scrivere. Come è intuibile scrivere non è come suonare o scolpire. Diffido di coloro che affermano il contrario. C’è poi un altro aspetto che è quello relativo al carattere. La mia opinione è che alcuni tra i più grandi scrittori di tutti i tempi siano stati non soltanto solitari, ma anche abbastanza eccentrici da essere soli pur conoscendo molta gente.
Come fa a capire quando un'idea è "buona" e distinguerla da una che invece è stata già usata? Lasciando da parte i libri che spesso si pubblicano che sono chiaramente "ispirati" da altri più noti, la mia è una domanda di pura curiosità. Immagino che una risposta sia il leggere tantissimo ma non si può leggere tutto. Come si comporta uno scrittore, quindi, sul fronte della novità della storia?

Indubbiamente H.P Lovecraft che ha ispirato, in un modo o nell’altro, buona parte della Prima Generazione. Per la Seconda Generazione invece, mi sono ispirato a... me stesso!
Lovecraft non credeva nelle cose che pure lo affascinavano quando scriveva. Era infatti un ateo convinto e rideva di oroscopi e magia. Lei che come artista non ha certamente nulla da invidiare a nessuno, crede in alcuni escamotage fantastici che ha descritto, per esempio, nel bel racconto "La melodia del cuore"?

Qual è lo scrittore (scrittrice) che più le piace?
Sono diversi. Tra questi Dick, Lem, Du Murier, Bradbury, Hearn, Joyce e molti altri.
Quante pagine scrive al giorno? S. King scrive solo la mattina. E' vero che gli scrittori scrivono preferibilmente di notte? Lei quale orari osserva?
Non esiste un orario prestabilito. Quando scrivevo racconti ero solito completare 6/7 pagine al giorno. Ora che gli impegni di lavoro si sono moltiplicati e le mie storie sono diventate più sofisticate può capitare che scriva ogni tre giorni o con intervalli più lunghi. Questo non toglie che nella mia testa continui a pensare al nuovo romanzo del momento. Potrei anzi dire che in un certo senso scriva sempre, anche se a livello mentale.
Se qualcuno le proponesse di fare un film tratto dai suoi libri, quale would be the story that would be presented on the big screen? She would make here?

Ho cominciato facendo il gost writer. E’ una professione onorevole, ma certo un po’ frustrante quando vedi che certi asini fanno successo sulle spalle altrui.
Quando inizia a scrivere un nuovo romanzo conosce già per sommi capi la trama o le idee arrivano man mano che scrive?
Per poterla materialmente iniziare la trama deve essere defined at least in its essentials, and all accessory ideas are in the same composition.
